The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon State Police arrested a man and woman who allegedly broke into and ransacked a cabin in the Tollgate area.
Umatilla County Sheriff’s Deputies Jason Post and Jeff Brown were responding to a report of a burglary on the morning of June 1 near milepost 12 off Highway 204. The reporting party was monitoring the security camera from off site and saw two suspects breaking into the back of the cabin. While responding, deputies requested additional cover from Oregon State Police.
Upon arriving, the deputies could hear people talking and ransacking the inside of the cabin. They set up a perimeter and waited for an OSP trooper to arrive. As the individuals came outside the cabin, they were taken into custody at gunpoint. They were identified as Amber Pauline Livingston, 37, from Walla Walla, and Jonathan Prescott Williams, 40, from Milton-Freewater.
The OSP trooper located a black Honda Accord on Carter Lane and Highway 204, which had been reported stolen out of Walla Walla. According to the sheriff’s office, Williams admitted he had driven the stolen vehicle to the area.
Williams was arrested on charges of first-degree burglary, possession of a controlled substance (meth), unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possession of burglary tools and second-degree criminal mischief. Livingston was arrested for first-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief and a misdemeanor warrant for failure to appear out of Umatilla County Circuit Court on the original charge of first-degree criminal trespass. Both individuals were lodged at the Umatilla County Jail.
The investigation revealed additional victims may exist. The sheriff’s office is requesting anyone with property in the Weston Mountain area to check their property and report any thefts immediately to the dispatch center at 541-966-3651.
