2 Charged with Armed Robbery in Pendleton

Two people were arrested Tuesday after allegedly taking part in an armed robbery at a gas station in Pendleton.

Just before noon, according to the Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office, Pendleton police responded to a report of an armed robbery at Indian Hills Chevron, 309 S.E. Nye Ave. Officers got a description of the suspects and direction they were traveling from the store employees. With the assistance from the Oregon State Police, the suspects were located at the Denny’s parking lot on Tutuilla Road.

Dennis Lee Burgess, 31, and Peggy La Dawn Turk, 31, were charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a firearm, two counts of pointing a firearm at another, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine, second-degree theft and second-degree conspiracy to commit theft.

During the arrest, officers recovered a firearm, merchandise and cash.
