Two Hermiston residents are in the hospital after gunfire was exchanged in the early-morning hours on Sunday in Hermiston.

Hermiston police were called to an apartment building on the 600 block of S.E. Fourth Street around 3:16 a.m. following reports of shots fired.

While en route to the scene, some of the officers were re-directed to Good Shepherd Medical Center for a report of two people arriving at the emergency room at different times with gunshot wounds.

The two victims were determined to be involved in the apartment complex shooting.

Both gunshot victims, Adalberto G. Flores, 20, and a 17-year-old male, were transported out of Hermiston for further treatment for their non-life threatening injuries.

Hermiston officers arrested and lodged Lalo Murillo, 21, of Hermiston, on a parole/probation detainer out of Umatilla County. Hermiston Police Chief Jason Edmiston did not say what part – if any – Murillo played in the incident.

Hermiston Police detectives are actively investigating the incident. The Oregon State Police Forensic Division was at the scene most of the day with processing evidence and diagramming the scene.

Edmiston said there may be more information on Monday.
