Ware continued westbound in the eastbound lanes for another three miles before his car struck a 2001 Chevrolet Venture head-on, killing both Ware and the driver of the Venture, Mary A. Padilla, 47, of Homedale, Idaho.

A 10-year-old passenger in the Chevrolet was transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

It is unknown at this time if drug or alcohol impairment was a factor in the crashes

While officers were investigating the fatal crash, a 1994 Ford Ranger drove through the closed scene. The Ford Ranger was stopped and the driver, Joshua Haynie, 32, of Pendleton, was arrested by the Umatilla Tribal Police Department for DUII. He later provided a breath sample of .16% BAC.
