Two transients have been arrested in Hermiston and face charges involving a stolen vehicle.
A Hermiston police officer was conducting routine patrol through the parking lot at Walmart late Wednesday night when he spotted a U-Haul vehicle with the cargo door open and someone sleeping in the cab.
He had dispatch conduct a records check on the license plate and found the vehicle had been reported stolen from La Grande on July 11.
The officer found Poppy Grover, a 33-year-old transient from La Grande, sleeping in the cab of the vehicle. Another officer arrived on scene and located and detained Kyle Waldron, a 33-year-old male transient, also from La Grande.
Both subjects were arrested and taken to the Umatilla County Jail. Grover was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle and Waldron was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.
