Hermiston Downtown District and the Hermiston Parks and Recreation Department will host the 2022 Hermiston Melon Fest on Saturday, Aug. 20.
Festivities for all ages take place on East Main and Festival streets from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. They include vendors, kids’ activities, bathtub races and more.
The bathtub races start at noon, with teams of three competing — two to push, one to steer. Tubs are provided, but team uniforms and slogans are encouraged. Registration for the bath tub races is available online.
The watermelon costume contest sponsored by Christiansen Realty Group is at 10 a.m. and is open to all ages. Prizes for first, second, and third will be awarded.
