A total of 29 motorists were cited or warned by the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office during the Dec. 11, 2015- Jan. 1, 2016, DUII/High Visibility Enforcement event.
No DUII arrests were made during the grant overtime shifts, but UCSO did respond to six crashes during normal patrol hours. One crash had minor injuries while the others were all non-injury. One of the non-injury crashes led to the arrest of an adult male for DUII.
“As always, our goal was to increase our presence in the community, reduce impaired-driving, and promote safe travel during the holiday season,” said Sgt. Joshua Roberts.
Law enforcement agencies throughout Oregon participated in the nationwide event, in an effort to get more impaired drivers off the street, and save lives that would otherwise be lost.
This event was funded through a grant from the Oregon State Sheriff’s Association. The next DUII/HVE grant event is scheduled for Super Bowl Sunday on Feb. 7.
