After reopening its tap house in February following a pandemic-related closure, Ordnance Brewing and the Boardman Tap House, 405 N. Olson Road, closed its doors for good Saturday, Aug. 26.

Isaac Williams, sales administrator and tap house manager, said the brewery and tap house were going out of business but couldn’t elaborate, referring several questions to managing owner Craig Coleman. The Hermiston Herald attempted to reach Coleman for comment but were unsuccessful as of publication.

Williams said the closing announcement was posted Aug. 19 on the Ordnance Brewing’s Facebook page.

Williams likened the tap house to the TV series “Cheers” bar.

“It’s a very ‘Cheers’-like atmosphere. We’re warm, welcoming. It’s a place that you can come and sit down next to anybody and strike up a conversation and meet a new friend,” he said.

However, he was disappointed as anybody to learn of the closure.

“It was very sudden, unexpected,” he said, “but you just got to take things as they are and as they are being told to you and put in the best effort that we can.”

But Williams isn’t the only person sad to see it close. Plenty of people on the Facebook post announcing the closure also weighed in.

“So sorry to hear this. We have been going to Ordnance for several years while camping at Boardman,” Joyce Harrison Stiff wrote. “We’ll miss all your great beers (that we liked lol) and your wonderful & friendly staff! Best of luck for whatever new adventures you decide to take!”

“We loved hanging out there when we were camping at Boardman RV Park,” Leesa Whittum Moss added. “Good luck to you all.”
