The Hermiston Parks and Recreation Department will host a free Kids Fishing Derby on Saturday, June 1 at the McNary Ponds in Umatilla.
The ponds will be stocked with over 2,500 fish, and some will be tagged for prizes.
Children 2-11 years old can fish from 10 a.m. to noon (adults, you can join the fun starting at noon). Parents are welcome to assist, but kids must reel in their own fish. There is a three-fish limit per child (keep or release).
