Jesse Vernon Walling of Boardman passed away in Hermiston on Aug. 18, 2024 at the age of 78.
He was born on March 13, 1946 in French Camp, Calif. to Joseph and Florence Chamberlain Walling.
Jesse grew up and attended schools in Modesto, Calif. He married Elvera Burson in Nevada on Jan. 11, 1965.
The couple lived in California for several years until moving to Walla Walla, Wash. in 1976. They later moved to Hermiston in the late 1990s. They have lived in the Boardman area for the past three years.
Jesse worked as a grader operator in the construction industry throughout his career.
Jesse enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and boating.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Elvera; son, Jesse Vernon (Shanna) Walling Jr.; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Oliver Walling and Jeffery Walling; two sisters, Sheri Santos and Elizabeth Jones; and many extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deanna Walling; his parents; sisters, Dee and Lela; and brothers, James and Charles.
Family services will be held at a later date.
