Richard Molden

Richard Charles Molden passed away peacefully at his home in Hermiston on Sept. 23, 2024.

He was born in Ephrata, Wash. on May 6, 1951.

During his youth, Richard enjoyed getting into mischief, traveling, and creating memories throughout the Pacific Northwest with dear friends. In the spring of 1974, Richard met Shannon O’Connell. His job led them to the Hermiston area in 1975, where they married in 1976. They later welcomed their son, Gaelan in 1979 and daughter, Bethany in 1983. In 1995, Richard fulfilled a lifelong wish by reconnecting with his oldest son, Brien.

Richard was a man of compassion and kindness. His encouraging nature and servant’s heart were evident, and he was known for giving the best hugs. He was a devoted father, actively involved in his kids’ sports and activities. He enjoyed his annual hunting trips to the Blue Mountains with his friends. His love for animals, especially his dog Stella, earned him the affectionate title of the “Dog Father.” He enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing poker, and trying his luck with nightly scratch-off tickets. But above all, he cherished spending time with his family and close friends.

Richard is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shannon; his sons, Brien Ragle (Pam) and Warren Gaelan Molden; his daughter, Bethany Molden; his grandson, Bowen; granddaughters, Breanne and Ella; his brother, William Molden; and sisters, Emilie Blank and Janice Burget.

His father, Robert Molden, mother, Wilma Molden (Weber), and sister, Bobbie preceded him in death. Services are pending.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Richard’s name can be made to Pioneer Humane Society (Pet Rescue) in Hermiston directly or through Burns Mortuary.
