Geraldine “Geri” Caroline Hassett Nunnenkamp of Hermiston went home peacefully to our Father on Sept. 28, 2024 at home surrounded by family at the age of 79.
She was born on Nov. 11, 1944 in North Bend to Joseph and Beulah Keizer Hassett.
Our mother was a strong, independent woman who did it her way. She worked mostly waiting tables and could run circles around those half her age (including her own daughters). She enjoyed her flower garden, sewing, playing bingo and playing pool (MVP 2006-2007), picnics at the beach, trying new recipes and cooking for friends and family. Our mother loved her friends and family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who knew her as “GG.”
She is survived by children, Robyn Wright, Donna Meyer, Shannon (Ramon) Garcilazo, Joel (Keri) Nunnenkamp and Aaron (Ashlee) Nunnenkamp; brother, Howard Hassett; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Geri was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Michelle Miles; ex-husband, Donald Nunnenkamp; sisters, Val Jean Copeland and Susan Perkins; brothers, Jack, Jim and Paul Hassett; son-in-law, Bill Wright; grandson, Ryan Meyer; and great-grandchildren, Kiana Meyer and Braxton Meyer.
A graveside service will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Grand Island, Neb. at a later time.
