The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) will hold an in-person open house on Nov. 20 to share its findings and discuss the next steps for the work being done on a pair of Pendleton intersections.
The open house will cover work being done on the intersections at S.W. Dorion Avenue/S.W. 10th Street and S.W. Court Avenue/S.W. First Street. This open house is the culmination of a months-long traffic study and comment period about the future of these two traffic signals in Pendleton.
Starting at 6 p.m. at the Pendleton Convention Center in rooms 6 and 7, ODOT will give an overview of the projects. There will be time for questions after the presentation. Light refreshments will be provided.
ODOT began designing an intersection improvement project in downtown Pendleton to enhance travel efficiency and safety while reducing maintenance costs. The traffic signals at S.W. Court Avenue and S.W. First Street, as well as S.W. Dorion Avenue and S.W. 10th Street, have exceeded their lifespans and are no longer needed due to changed traffic conditions.
In March, ODOT implemented interim traffic control measures at both intersections to monitor the new traffic pattern. In September, ODOT reactivated the signals at S.W. Dorion Avenue and S.W. 10th Street to accommodate the increase in out-of-town traffic during the Pendleton Round-up.
