Boardman Fires: Vehicle of interest, driver ruled out

BOARDMAN, Ore.-A vehicle of interest related to a series of suspicious fires in Boardman on July 18 has been identified and located.

According to an update provided by Boardman Police on July 23, the gray truck and its driver have been located and are no longer believed to be connected to the fires.

The gray truck emerged as a vehicle of interest following the five separate fires that burned five homes and the Boardman Food Pantry, after witnesses reported seeing a man running from one of the fires, getting in the truck and driving away.

One of the fires was started accidentally by a lawnmower, according to BPD, however, the other four have been deemed suspicious, and an arson investigation is ongoing.
