PENDLETON, Ore.-Pendleton Police continue to investigate an armed robbery and assault that took place on the morning of August 13.
Police responded to reports of a car crash and a gunshot in the 1200 block of SW Goodwin Lane, involving multiple people around 8:26 a.m.
According to Pendleton PD, the incident stemmed from a robbery where two people in masks, one of whom had a gun, entered a residence, assaulted the victim and stole items from the home, including a gun.
The victim managed to escape, causing the suspects to run from the scene, and that is when the car crash happened.
One of the suspects was detained by a witness after the crash before being taken into custody, according to Pendleton PD, and the second suspect has been identified through video surveillance.
Pendleton PD provided an update on the situation on August 14, assuring the public that there was no active shooter or reports of an active shooter during the incident and that there is no ongoing threat to public safety, although local schools and businesses went into secure/lockdown procedures out of an abundance of caution during the incident.
The investigation into the robbery and crash is ongoing and Pendleton PD will not be releasing any further information at this time.
