Stanfield man killed in Baker County motorcycle crash

BAKER COUNTY, Ore.-A Stanfield man was killed in a motorcycle crash in Baker County on the night of August 18.

Oregon State Police (OSP) responded to the single-vehicle crash on Highway 26 near milepost 221 around 5:48 p.m.

According to OSP, 74-year-old Michael Klaus, of Stanfield, lost control of his Kawasaki Ninja and slid into a ditch on the westbound side of the road.

Klaus died of his injuries at the scene, and traffic was impacted for about two hours as OSP and the Oregon Department of Transportation responded to the crash.

OSP’s Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU), is now investigating the crash, as it does with all deadly crashes on Oregon’s highways.
