Brehnan Gregory Rysdam, lovingly known as “Bear,” passed away on Nov. 9, 2025 at his home in Hermiston at the age of 16.
Born on Sept. 8, 2009 in Hermiston, Brehnan brought joy, laughter, and love to all who knew him. Brehnan was the cherished son of Dustin and Kaira Rysdam, and a beloved brother to Bradley and Paisley. He was deeply loved by his Grandma Shellie, Grandpa Jesse, Aunt Ashley, great-grandparents, cousins, and many more family members and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Bear lived life with boundless energy and passion. He loved working alongside his dad with any project and had future dreams of becoming an electrician. He loved his mom’s cooking and had always paid her a compliment and hug after dinner. His talents and interests were many – he loved lacrosse (where he shined as a goalie), high school swimming, welding, mechanics, motorcycles, officiating youth lacrosse, hunting, fishing, jet boating, camping, and just spending time outdoors. Above all, he treasured time with his family. He also gave generously of his time, spending countless hours volunteering with family and friends at the HEROS Sportsplex Fields located at EOTEC, helping set up for youth events and workdays for construction of the sports fields, embodying the spirit of service and community.
Brehnan’s celebration of life will fittingly be held at EOTEC Event Center in Hermiston on Dec. 6, 2025 at 6 p.m. Family, friends, and community members are invited to gather and tell loving stories in remembrance of his bright spirit and the love he shared.
In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Brehnan’s honor to the #00 Love Like Bear account at Columbia River Bank (please include RYSDAM3598 in the memo). All the proceeds from donations will go toward supporting local youth and the future construction of bounce back walls for youth sports development – continuing Bear’s legacy of giving back and uplifting others.
Brehnan will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his devotion to family, caring heart, and the love and passion that he poured into everything he did. His memory will live in the hearts of all who knew him, inspiring us all to Love Like Bear.
As we bid farewell to Bear, let us carry his love in our hearts. Your condolences through cards and letters are deeply appreciated, offering solace during this time of unimaginable grief. If you have more to share, please email Haley at hmmcenroe@gmail.com.
