Shannon Michael Nichols died on Dec. 11, 2025 at his home in Lakewood, Wash. at the age of 52.
He was born on Dec. 3, 1973 in Quito, Ecuador.
Shannon was raised by his parents, John Nichols Jr. and A. Ruth Nichols in Wasco County and later in Umatilla County, graduating from Hermiston High School in the class of 1992. He enlisted in the United States Army and served in Germany and two tours in Kuwait. Shannon was honorably discharged and had lived in Lakewood, Wash. since. He had worked as a security guard for Pacific Security for over 15 years. Growing up, Shannon enjoyed fishing, wrestling and participating in 4-H.
He is survived by his parents, John and Ruth Nichols, Hermiston; sisters, Cindy Vandiver, Alaska, Sheryl Markland, Pasco, Wash., Peggy Hartjan, Sulfur, La. and Brianne Silva, Hermiston; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A family gathering will be held at a later date.
