Jacqueline Louise Dunagan Hood of Hermiston passed away on Jan. 7, 2026 at the age of 94.

Born to Burchell and Nellie Slaughter Dunagan on Oct. 2, 1931 in Pendleton, Jackie was the eldest of seven. She graduated from Pendleton High School in 1949.

Jackie married Erwin Hood on Jan. 3, 1951 in Walla Walla, Wash. During their 19-year marriage they had three sons and a daughter. Jackie and Erwin lived most of their married life in Spokane and Pasco, Wash. The family moved to Waianae, Hawaii in June 1968. Jackie and Erwin divorced in 1969. In the summer of 1974 Jackie returned to Oregon, settling in the Hermiston area.

Jackie joined the Episcopal church as a young child and remained a member all her life. She worshiped and served over the years as a faithful parishioner at the Church of the Redeemer, Pendleton; Church of Our Saviour, Pasco, Wash.; and St. John’s Episcopal Church in Hermiston.

Jackie is survived by her daughter, Kelly Hood Slaughter of Keizer; her youngest sibling, Patricia Frost of Dayton; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In her final years Jackie was especially close to her grandson, Nicholas Barnes, Amity.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents; five of her six siblings, Geraldine Dunagan Swanson, Leroy Dunagan, James Dunagan, Joseph Dunagan, and Michael Dunagan; and all three of her sons, Erwin Hood Jr., David Hood, and Kevin Hood.

No services will be held. Jackie’s cremains will be spread in various beloved locations. Jackie loved cats and would have appreciated any memorial donations be made to a favorite animal rescue or humane society.
