UMATILLA, Ore.-Parts of three streets in Umatilla are now closed due to construction of the new Umatilla Police station.

C, D, and 7th Streets are now closed due to extensive construction, including relocation of utilities in the area.

According to the City of Umatilla, the roads are expected to remain closed throughout the summer, however, local traffic for residents in the area is allowed and homeowners should work with contractors to coordinate access to driveways during construction.

Drivers are asked to pay attention to posted road closure signs and follow all traffic control measures in the area.

Anyone with questions about the construction project or concerns about road closures or access is encouraged to contact Scott Coleman, Umatilla’s Public Works Director at 541.922.3226. ext. 101.

Construction of the new Umatilla Police Station began with a groundbreaking ceremony on March 3 and will be completed in two phases.

The new 14,000 square foot UPD station will be built in phase one, followed by demolition of the old station during phase two.

More information about the project that is expected to be fully completed by Summer 2027 is available online through the City of Umatilla.
