HERMISTON, OR – Good Shepherd Health Care System (GSHCS) is pleased to welcome Dr. Nazanin Kaatz, double Board-Certified Dermatologist and Mohs Micrographic Surgeon, who is now accepting patients at Good Shepherd Dermatology, located at 620 NW 11th St, Suite M-013, in Hermiston.
“Dr. Kaatz is an outstanding addition to our dermatology team,” said Art Mathisen, GSHCS President & CEO. “Her expertise and dedication to patient-centered care strengthen our ability to provide exceptional dermatology and skin cancer surgery services close to home.”
Dr. Kaatz specializes in skin cancer detection, treatment, and surgical management for adults. She earned her Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY, and completed her dermatology residency at the University of Colorado in Denver, CO. Her training also includes a general surgery
residency at the University of Arizona, a postdoctoral research fellowship in dermatology at Stanford University School of Medicine, and a visiting scholar and clinical trials co-investigator role at the University of Southern California. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has been involved in clinical trials for inflammatory skin diseases.
“Skin health often reflects overall health,” said Dr. Kaatz. “Through early detection and intervention, we can identify skin cancer at its earliest stages and with Mohs surgery, we can treat it with the highest cure rates while preserving the maximum amount of healthy tissue. I’m grateful to bring that capability to the families of Northeast Oregon, closer to
home.”
As a Board-Certified Mohs surgeon, Dr. Kaatz specializes in Mohs micrographic surgery, a precise technique used to remove skin cancer layer by layer with on-site pathology review, ensuring complete removal while sparing as much normal tissue as possible. Previously, patients in the region often had to travel well over an hour for this level of care.
Good Shepherd Dermatology offers comprehensive medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology services. Surgical services include Mohs micrographic surgery with on-site pathology, skin cancer excision, complex wound reconstruction using local flaps and skin grafts, and scar revision. Additional services include full-body skin cancer screenings,
dermoscopy of suspicious skin lesions, skin biopsies, cryotherapy, electrodesiccation and curettage, laser therapies, microneedling, chemical peels, injectable treatments such as Botox and dermal fillers, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy. Urgent appointments are available for concerning spot checks.
“I’m excited to join Good Shepherd Dermatology and bring advanced skin cancer treatment and high-quality dermatologic care to the region,” said Dr. Kaatz.
