Daniel Batchelder Passes Away at 81

Daniel Allen Batchelder of West Richland, Wash. passed away peacefully in his home on July 20, 2026 surrounded by family at the age of 81. He was a beloved husband, father and friend.

Born on July 1, 1945 in East Los Angeles, Calif., he joined the Marine Corps in November 1963. While serving two tours of duty in Vietnam, he earned a Vietnam Service Medal and Marksmanship Badge, and was released from active duty with the rank of Corporal E-4 in 1966.

In 1975, he married Susan Crill and had daughters Jennie and Beth. He was an adoring husband and father, dedicated friend, proud veteran and avid square dancer, and loved to travel. He enjoyed service work, especially volunteering at the Cheyenne Rodeo in the bucking chute and serving in prison ministry.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; daughters, Jennie and Beth; daughters-in-law, Katie and Shane; sister, Anitalane and husband David; nephews, John and Derek; nieces, Marcy and Sarah; and daughter, Colleen.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 10 a.m. at the Westside Church, 615 Wright Ave., Richland, Wash., 99352.

A graveside service with military honors will follow at 2 p.m. at the Echo Cemetery.
