Cohen, MD, AGAF, FACG, a Board-Certified Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist to Good Shepherd Health Care System. With more than 30 years of experience caring for patients across Washington State, Dr. Cohen brings nationally recognized expertise in
digestive health, advanced endoscopy, and liver disease to patients throughout Northeast Oregon and the surrounding regions.

Dr. Cohen specializes in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the digestive system, including disorders of the esophagus, stomach, intestines, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder and biliary tract. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care while helping patients understand their conditions and treatment options.
A California native, Dr. Cohen earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Southern California School of Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, a Stanford Universityaffiliated teaching hospital, followed by a Clinical Gastroenterology Fellowship at the University of New Mexico. He later
spent nearly five years conducting gastrointestinal research at Stanford University School of Medicine. Following his academic career, Dr. Cohen entered private practice at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, where he ultimately served as Chief of Gastroenterology.
“Building strong digestive health programs has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career,” said Dr. Cohen. “I’m excited to join Good Shepherd because of its commitment to expanding specialty care, investing in advanced technology, and providing patients with exceptional care close to home throughout the region. My goal is to ensure patients have access to comprehensive gastroenterology services without having to leave the region.”
In addition to caring for patients, Dr. Cohen remains active in academic medicine. He is a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association, a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology, and a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. He also serves as a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Washington State
University’s Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Washington School of Medicine.
As Medical and Program Director of the Good Shepherd Digestive Health Center, Dr. Cohen will help lead the continued growth of gastroenterology services, expanding access to advanced digestive care and supporting the organization’s commitment to meeting the healthcare needs of the region for years to come.
