HERMISTON, Ore.-Good Shepherd Dermatology opened in April, providing patients in Eastern Oregon much needed access to skin, hair, and nail care without driving long distances.
Located at 620 NW 11th St, Suite M-013 in Hermiston, Good Shepherd Dermatology provides comprehensive services including medical dermatology, cosmetic procedures, and surgical treatments.
Good Shepherd Dermatology conducted its first laser case in August, and the clinic is now scheduling for seven different procedures, with many more on the way, according to double Board-Certified Dermatologist Dr. Wendy Roberts, Medical Director of Good Shepherd Dermatology.
Dr. Roberts specializes in skin cancer detection, prevention, and treatment, including surgical intervention when necessary, and also offers advanced cosmetic and restorative services including skin rejuvenation, laser treatments, and hair restoration.
Double Board-Certified Dermatologist and Mohs Surgeon Dr. Nazanin Kaatz, who specializes in skin cancer detection, treatment, and surgical management for adults, is also accepting new patients at Good Shepherd Dermatology.
As a Mohs surgeon, Dr. Kaatz specializes in Mohs micrographic surgery, a precise technique used to remove skin cancer layer by layer with on-site pathology review, ensuring complete removal while sparing as much normal tissue as possible.
Procedures currently available at Good Shepherd Dermatology include:
- ADVATx: A dual wavelength 589 and 1319nm laser used to treat rosacea, face veins, sunspots, sun damaged skin, fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring, unevenness, crepiness of skin, and striae
- AEROLASE NEO ELITE: A 1064 NdYag laser with minimal downtime used to treat inflammatory acne, acne scarring, facial redness and veins, melasma, cherry hemangiomas, vascular birthmarks, unwanted facial hair, folliculitis and razor bumps, skin rejuvenation, sun damaged skin, and pigmented skin lesions
- BOTOX: The number one neurotoxin used to treat the muscles of expression which due to repeated use create wrinkles. It can also be used to temporarily treat facial asymmetries and imbalance. Botox effects only last 4-6 months so the treatments must be repeated if you want to maintain the desired effect. According to Dr. Roberts, botox may also be used to prevent the deepening existing lines, as well as treat forehead lines, frown lines between the eyes, uneven eyebrows, crow’s feet, bunny lines of the nose, hook nose, lipstick lines, enlarge lips with “lip flip” pebbly overactive chin, gummy smile, slimming the lower face by jaw reduction, prominent neck bands, and chest wrinkles.
- CHEMICAL PEEL: Chemical peels have many uses in dermatology and are an inexpensive way to address overall facial rejuvenation from sun damage and aging. According to Dr. Roberts, Good Shepherd Dermatology will be using the VI peel to start with. Chemical peels are exfoliating, removing the superficial layers of the skin which causes them to brighten the skin and can be used to treat acne, hyperpigmentation, melasma, sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles, uneven complexion of face chest and hands.
- DERMAL FILLERS: There are many types of dermal fillers and Good Shepherd Dermatology will be using Juvederm, Voluma, Skin Vive, Radiesse, Belotero and Sculptra. Fillers restore tissue in age related facial volume loss, improve facial shape and definition, improve nose shape and contour, improve hollow eyes and undereye circles, restore hollow temples. Dermal fillers can also improve jawline shape and contour, lip enhancing, cheek enhancing, lifting of sagging tissue, hydrating the skin, diminishing pores, soften and eliminate wrinkles, restores youthful hands. According to Dr. Roberts, dermal fillers are not lasting and need to be maintained by reinjection.
- LIQUID FACELIFT: A combination of injectables including dermal fillers and Botox to simulate a surgical facelift without surgery. According to Dr. Roberts, the liquid facelift procedure is highly customizable to address individual concerns and anatomy and is used to treat aging face, sagging face, undereye circles, and hollow temples
- TOXBOOSTER: A skin rejuvenation procedure which combines BOTOX and VI Peel on the same day. According to Dr. Roberts, the synergy of these 2 procedures works well for fast skin rejuvenation, brightening, tightening and elimination of the dynamic wrinkles which can age the face. Toxbooster is used to treat sun damage, dull skin, uneven complexion, aging face
Additional services available at Good Shepherd Dermatology include full-body skin cancer screenings, dermoscopy of suspicious skin lesions, skin biopsies, cryotherapy, electrodesiccation and curettage.
According to Dr. Roberts, Good Shepherd Dermatology will also be rolling out several more treatment options soon, including fraxel, skin tightening, microdermabrasion, microneedling, sclerotherapy, and platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy for the scalp.
