Berniece Marie Kurz died on April 4, 2013 at her home in Umatilla at the age of 90.
She was born on Aug. 10, 1922 in Condon to Wilbur and Olive Bennett.
She was raised, attended school, and graduated in Fossil before moving to Hermiston in 1940. Berniece married Ray Kurz on April 20, 1944 in Salina, Kan. She moved to Umatilla in 1945. She was a homemaker after retiring from working in the cafeteria at McNary Grade School in Umatilla. Berniece enjoyed gardening, flowers and various crafts. She was a long time member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Hermiston.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Lee Kurz; son, Douglas Allen Kurz, son Richard Ray Kurz; and five grandchildren.
Berniece was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Kurz; her parents; and a brother, Carl Bennett.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 20 at 3:30 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 515 SW Seventh St., in Hermiston.
A private family burial will be held at the Hermiston Cemetery.
