Jensen started her course of study with Oregon State University in 2009, focusing on counselor education and supervision. She will receive her hood on June 15 with the 2013 OSU graduating students. Her dissertation was on “Increasing college-going self-efficacy of rural fifth graders.

“I truly believe that no individual gains success in life on their own,” said Jensen. “We all stand on the shoulders of those who have gone before us and who have sacrificed with us. This degree was earned by many who supported me . . . I am beyond grateful to HSD for the support I have had to pursue this dream.”

Jensen’s work experience has been solely with Hermiston School District. She was hired in 2006. She attained her bachelor degree through Eastern Oregon University and master’s degree from Washington State University. She is married to Jason Jensen, a Hermiston High School teacher, and they have three children: Judah, Hannah, and Zeke.

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Fred Maiocco said that Jensen’s accomplishment is “very significant” and “a tribute to her commitment and pursuit of excellence.”
