Rosie McMillin, 94, of Stanfield, died on Wednesday Oct. 9, 2013 in Stanfield.

She was born on Nov. 28, 1918 Hawleyville, Iowa.

Rosie’s mother Jessie was so sick after her birth that Manual’s mother, Georgia Ventura Yaden, raised her. Rosie had a colorful childhood living in many different states growing up. Antelope was her favorite meat. She spoke of watching them run through the Wyoming hills and attending her one room school.

Rosie met Melton Edgar McMillin before the outbreak of World War II. They were married Sept. 21, 1941 in Savannah, Miss., and made their home in Iowa. After World War II ended, Rosie and Edgar “Mac” moved to Oregon. They spent time in Ukiah and later in Pendleton. Mac passed away on Oct. 2, 1983.

Mac and Rosie had five children, Evalena (Bill) Griffin of Hermiston, Patricia (Marty) Walls of Longview, Wash., Linda (Jerry) Noblin of Jay, Okla., Jolene (Dan) Berry of Stanfield, and George (Kathy) McMillin of Springfield. She has 18 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Margaret DeWitt, Mable Dias, Mary Gibson and Violet ; and brother, Marshall Ventura.

A graveside service will be held on Monday Oct. 14, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Pleasant View Cemetery in Stanfield.
