An Irrigon woman is in jail facing charges of identity theft, mail theft and forgery.
Camille Sue Wilson, 43, was arrested following a traffic stop on Feb. 13. A Hermiston police officer made a routine traffic stop and found Wilson was driving with a suspended license. Her passenger, Matthew James Way, 24, Hermiston, was arrested on outstanding warrants.
In the past couple of weeks, Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office deputies have been investigating several cases of mail and identity theft in which Wilson was a suspect. During the Feb. 13 traffic stop, a UMCSO deputy met with Wilson and found her to be in possession of several pieces of stolen mail, including checks, credit cards and parcels from addresses in Umatilla, Hermiston and Irrigon, none of which had her name on them.
Wilson was charged with mail theft, identity theft, forgery and theft by receiving.
The sheriff’s office said today that the case remains under investigation and Wilson could face additional charges.
