Echo's Nancy Brown Passes Away at Age 64

Nancy Louise Brown died on April 19, 2015 at her home in Echo at the age of 64.

She was born on Jan. 6, 1951 in Gold Beach to James and Peggy Burkett Lindberg. Nancy lived in Oregon, France, Georgia, Washington, Germany, and Texas. She moved to Stanfield in 1985 and later to Echo in 1999 where she has lived since. Nancy worked at Lamb Weston for 13 years and then for the Simmons Agency in Hermiston for a couple of years. She was a volunteer and committee member for Relay for Life, a member of A.C.S. CAN, a member of Lung Cancer Alliance, Stanfield Moose Lodge, and one of the founding parents of STAND TALL. Nancy enjoyed crafts, tying flies, reading, making cards, and knitting.

She is survived by her children, Charles Ray Craig, Jr.; Jennifer & Jeff Johnson, Echo, Valerie & Howard Califf, Umatilla, Elizabeth & Steven Castillo, Umatilla, Rachael Craig, Echo; stepdaughter, Barbara Nagy, Centerville, Wash.; mother, Peggy Lindberg, Stanfield; sisters, Roesealee Combs; husband John, Hooks, TX, and Donna Lindberg, Port Orford, OR; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; uncle, Kenny Burkett, Irrigon; two nieces, one nephew, and many cousins.

Nancy was preceded in death by her father; first husband, Charles Craig; second husband, Robert Brown; and stepson, Robert Brown Jr.

A celebration of life potluck gathering will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Nathan Bard Park in Stanfield.

Those who wish may make contributions in Nancy’s memory to the Shriner’s Hospital or St. Judes Hospital.
