Mary V. Wade died Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Sun Terrace Assisted Living Facility in Hermiston at the age of 87.

She was born Oct. 31, 1927 at Torrington, Conn., to John and Mary (Safcak) Hanecak. Mary was a long time resident of Stanfield. She was raised in Brooklyn, New York and in 1950 she moved to Alameda, Calif., where she worked as a clerk/typist for the U.S. government. She moved to Stanfield in 1973. On June 4, 1973 she married Donald Lee Wade Sr. in Couer D’Alene, Idaho. She was a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston, the VFW Auxiliary in Echo, and was one of the original founders of the soup kitchen in Hermiston. Mary enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading and travel.

She is survived by sons, James J. Owens of Alameda, Calif., Timothy Owens of Hayward, Calif., and Mark McGunnigle of San Leandro, Calif.; stepsons, Donald Wade Jr. of Stanfield, Tim Wade of Ayer, MA., Rick Wade of Hermiston, and Patrick Wade of Spanaway, Wash.; stepdaughters, Theresa Neileigh of Estacada, Brenda Hussey of Cascade Locks; brother, John Hanecak of Pleasant Hill, Calif.; stepgranddaughter and caregiver, Kristie Contreras; and 29 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husband, Donald Wade, Sr.; her parents; brothers, James “Jack” Hanecak and Henry Hanecak; stepdaughter, Sheila (Wade) Hedrick; and stepgrandson, John Brooks.

Recitation of the Rosary will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at 6 p.m. at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston. Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery.
