Edmiston said Stackhouse is alleged to have stolen two vehicles from victims just outside the city limits. The chief said Stackhouse, while driving one of the vehicles, struck “numerous parked vehicles” before assaulting and robbing a 43-year-old woman and attempting to steal her car.

Stackhouse fled the area of N.E. Seventh Street and E. Catherine Avenue on foot before being caught by a Umatilla County Sheriff’s deputy in the 200 block of W. Beech Avenue. Edmiston said numerous witnesses assisted with the investigation.

Stackhouse was processed at the Hermiston Police Department and charged with third-degree robbery, five counts of driving under the influence of intoxicants, failure to perform the duties of a driver, reckless driving, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, and possession of a stolen vehicle. He was lodged in the Umatilla County Jail with bail set at $248,000.

Edmiston said amount of damage allegedly caused by Stackhouse is estimated to be in the tens of thousands of dollars. He said additional charges will likely be filed by the sheriff’s office.

“This appears to be an individual who chose to go on a crime spree victimizing anyone and everyone who came in his path,” Edmiston said. “Thankfully the injury sustained by our victim was minor and we are hopeful Mr. Stackhouse will remain incarcerated so as not to further victimize people.”
