David Briley, Former Resident, Dies at 92

David D. Briley, former Stanfield-Hermiston, Oregon resident was born on October 23, 1922 in Wilburton, Oklahoma to parents, David and Maybell Mathis Briley. He died on August 12, 2015 in Woodburn, Oregon at the age of 92 years.

Dave was raised and attended schools in Roseburg, Oregon. He then attended UCLA for a time before serving in the Army Air Corps during WWII until his honorable discharge. David was united in marriage to Betty Jean McMahon on July 27, 1947 in Vancouver, Washington. They lived in Clackamas County, Oregon and Dave worked as a construction foreman for many years. They moved to Stanfield, Oregon in 1989 and then to Woodburn, Oregon earlier this year where they have lived since. Dave was a member of the American Legion Post #37, Hermiston, OR and the VFW Post #1324, Oregon City, OR. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years: Betty Jean Briley, Woodburn, OR; children: Chester Wyatt, Heppner, OR, Rebecca Stearns (Jim), Hermiston, OR, Stephen Briley, Hermiston, OR, John Briley, Eagle Creek, OR, Mark Briley (Teri), Woodburn, OR, & Barbara Emra (Keith), Donald, OR; brother: Bill Briley, Portland, OR; 15 Grandchildren; 24 Great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons: David Wayne Briley & Richard “Rick” Briley; sister: Bonnie Moore; and brothers: Stanley & Pat Briley.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, August 21, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Country Meadows Village, 115 S. Evergreen Rd., Woodburn, OR 97071.

Burial with military honors will be held on a later date at Pleasant View Cemetery, Stanfield, Oregon.
