Prison to Adopt Out 3 Dogs on Saturday

Two Rivers Correctional Institution (TRCI) has three loveable dogs looking for their forever homes.

Reba webPetSmart in Kennewick will be hosting an adoption on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The public is invited to stop in and meet Cody, Reba, and Spot. Adoption applications will be available, along with the opportunity to meet and interact with the dogs. PetSmart is located at 6807 W. Canal Dr., Kennewick, Wash.

The dogs are part of TRCI’s Rehabilitating Offenders and Canines Program (ROC). Each dog is trained in basic commands and received the American Kennel Club Good Citizen certification. The adoption fee is $150. All dogs are vaccinated, spayed or neutered, and microchipped. For more information please contact 541-922-2029. Spot webTRCI is a multi-custody prison in Umatilla that houses approximately 1,800 male inmates. TRCI participates in prison industries with Oregon Corrections Enterprises including institution and industrial laundry, mattress manufacturing, and sewing.

Other institution work programs include reparation and cleaning of irrigation ditches, maintenance of local baseball fields, and work with local cities and the Hermiston School District. The facility provides a range of correctional programs and services including education, religious services, and behavioral health services. TRCI opened in 2000.
