Stop Signs
Stop signs will be installed on N.W. Fifth Street at W. Madrona Ave., after the Hermiston City Council approved the request at Monday's meeting.

Motorists driving on N.W. Fifth Street in Hermiston will soon have to come to a stop when they approach W. Madrona Avenue.

The intersection is currently uncontrolled, but after a couple of residents near the intersection complained about near wrecks, the Hermiston City Council voted unanimously Monday night to put two stop signs at the intersection.

“There’s been some near misses there,” said Hermiston City Manager Byron Smith. The northbound and southbound signs were chosen because eastbound and westbound traffic is stopped one block away.

The signs will cost the city $600.
