The Hermiston Parks and Recreation Department is offering dance classes in October and November.

Instructor April Dyntera will offer lessons on the west coast swing as well as teaching a “social sampler,” in which a different dance will be taught during each of the six lessons. The class is designed to offer the beginner an overview of a variety of popular dances. The lessons are from 6:15 to 7:15 P.M. each Thursday from Oct. 6 to Nov. 10.

Dyntera will also teach the West Coast Swing during the same days, but from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The West Coast Swing is a unique dance suited for “funky” rhythm and blues music.

Both classes will be held at the Hermiston Public Library in the basement. Participants must be at least 14 years old. Those ages 14-17 must have an adult participating or watching the class. The cost for each class is $30 for Hermiston residents and $38 for non-residents. No partner is required.

The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, Oct. 5. For more information, call 541-667-5018.
