Kathryn Ann Fowler, 61, of Forest Grove, passed away at her home on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2016. She was born July 5, 1955 in La Grande to Matt & Doris Doherty.

She attended school in Hermiston, Oregon, graduating with honors in 1973. In addition to being a national Merit Scholar, she was a varsity tennis player and band/pep band member.

Following high school she attended the University of Oregon, where she was an enthusiastic member of both the marching and pep bands. She graduated with a degree in music education and for a brief time taught music at Stanfield and Hermiston. She returned to school, taking technical classes at Blue Mountain Community College. On completion of her studies, she became employed by Intel Corporation where she spent the next 31 and a half years, until retirement.
Kathy loved the outdoors. She was very active in 4-H when she was young, and often had her pet steer at the fair. Kathy was a very avid Oregon Duck fan. She loved hers dogs and her horse, and with her husband, Dave, enjoyed entering their dogs in various hunting dog field trials.

She is survived by her husband Dave Fowler, parents Matt and Doris Doherty, sister Susan Russell, and brother Steve Doherty.

A graveside service will be held the following Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at the Hermiston Cemetery.

The family asks that donations be made to the Matt & Doris Scholarship Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation, 1221 SW Yamhill St. Suite 100, Portland, OR 97205 (#24890 may be used in the check notation field although it’s not necessary as long as the full name of the fund is used).

OCF shall make charitable distributions from this Fund for the award of scholarships to graduates, or the equivalent, from high schools in the Hermiston School District, the Morrow County School District, and Ione, Oregon for use in pursuit of post-secondary education at public or private nonprofit colleges, including community colleges, or universities in the United States that are eligible to participate in the federal student financial aid program.
