Two Irrigon Junior-Senior High School students have won scholarships from the Horatio Alger Association.
Marlina Avila Serratos and Brandy Quezada-Hermosillo were named 2017 State Scholars.
The association, based in Alexandria, Va., has been funding need-based college scholarships since 1984 to support deserving young people overcome their adversity and pursue their dreams through higher education. So far the Association has awarded more than $125 million to about 20,000 students.
