The Oregon Department of Transportation’s contractor Roy Houck Construction will begin paving the section of Westgate Avenue in Pendleton between Airport Road and 18th Street on July 5.

The paving operations will take place at nighttime between the hours of 6 p.m. and 7 a.m. to minimize impacts to businesses and travelers. The work on Westgate is expected to continue Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening and be completed by Sunday morning. On July 10, crews will begin repaving the freeway ramps at Exit 207 and 209. Ramp paving is expected to take about a week. Striping work along the repaved sections is scheduled to take place later in the month. Travelers can expect lane closures, flaggers, pilot cars and delays of up to twenty minutes during the paving operations, and minor delays during road striping of painted lines and legends.

The work is part of a $1.29 million project that included updates to over a dozen ADA sidewalk ramps, upgrading traffic signals and road repaving. Sidewalk and traffic signal work was completed earlier this spring. All work is expected to be completed by the end of July.
