Louis “Lou” Kauhane Nakapalau died on Jan. 26, 2018 at his home in Echo at the age of 64.

He was born on March 23, 1953 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Emmadine and Solomon Nakapalau.

He enlisted in the Army in 1968 and completed his service in 1989. He completed his career as a Sergeant First Class. Lou could share stories to fill the day. He had a variety of professions following his career in the Army, including but certainly not limited to peace officer, ditch rider, short order cook, and car salesman at Tom Denchel Ford. He served on the Echo City Council and took pride in making a difference in his community. He spent countless hours line judging for volleyball, umpiring for softball, watering the city flowers and feeding the fish at the local pond. Lou had a huge heart and was always looking for ways to serve others in any capacity. He had a way of making you feel special. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved his Savior, Jesus Christ, and knew that he was a child of God. He will be missed greatly by those who knew the man he really was!

He is survived by his daughters, Fauna Sorrells of Louisiana and Krista Dressel and family of Nebraska; extensive extended family in Hawaii; and many adopted family across the U.S.
