The Hermiston Police Department will conduct additional DUII/High Visibility Enforcement Grant overtime patrols during this upcoming May 5-6 weekend.

The grant monies were awarded through Oregon Impact, whose mission is to provide educational experiences (with an emphasis of encouraging teen drivers to make good choices), in order to put an end to impaired and distracted driving

“Whatever your plans for this upcoming weekend, have fun, but please be safe and responsible,” said Cpt. Scott Clark of the HPD. “Remember, DUII also applies to other legal and illegal drugs besides alcohol.”

  1. Well that is nice.but u can not control traffic from speeding and using streets for freeways.loud cars and music blaring from.and them making yourself visible in neighborhoods so what do u expect to do here.show of muscle show yourself to convince people you do something.need a force of police who do work in the community and a police chief who enforces the law and stop being a sanctuary city.

I know the police department makes every effort to do all the things you mentioned; controlling traffic, making themselves visible in neighborhoods, and, in general, doing their very best to keep Hermiston safe for all its citizens. If you have concerns about how things are being done, exercise your right to ask about it and get involved to develop a better understanding of the challenges faced every day by every officer for the city. Walk in their shoes for a day, then let’s talk about “…need a force of police who do work in the community and a police chief who enforces the law…..”
