Leigh Beamer Passes Away at 94

Leigh Beamer of Hermiston passed away while visiting family in Moses Lake, Wash. on Aug. 13, 2018 at the age of 94.

She was born on Jan. 12, 1924 in Santa Ana, Calif. to Ralph and Francis Fitch Williams.

As a child, Leigh moved with her family to Oregon and lived in east Lane County throughout most of her childhood. After graduating from high school, she attended Oregon State University where she studied for a couple of years. While attending college, she met Dale A. Beamer. The couple were united in marriage on Oct. 11, 1947 in Eugene. They made their home in the Eugene area, where they ran a turkey farm and an agriculture business for many years. In 1973 they moved to Condon, where they raised cattle and sheep for several years. They moved to Warden, Wash. in 1985, where they raised hay and cattle. In 1995 they retired to Irrigon, where they lived until 2011. Leigh had resided in Hermiston for the past seven years.

Leigh enjoyed many activities, such as knitting, quilting, crocheting, cooking, canning, fishing, camping and hunting, and she was a 4H leader.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Dale, on March 5, 2011; sisters, Ora Jane Black and her twin sister, Gayle Enney.

She is survived by daughters, Virginia Beamer-Highsmith of Powell, Wyo. and Carla McMahon of Hermiston; sons, Steve Beamer of Terrebonne and Keith Beamer of Moses Lake, Wash; 12 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.

Family suggests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society in her memory.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018 at the Desert Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Irrigon.
