The Joint Committee on Carbon Reduction will hold a hearing in The Dalles to receive constituent testimony on the proposed cap and trade legislation (HB 2020).
Oregon State Rep. Greg Smith is urging residents in his district to relate their concerns about the legislation at the March 1 hearing.
“Recent studies indicate that the cap and trade program under consideration will have a significant impact on our community,” Smith said. “Both fuel and natural gas prices are projected to increase, fuel prices are estimated to rise 16 cents per gallon just in the first year and natural gas is estimated to increase by over 50 percent.”
The hearing in The Dalles will be from noon to 3 p.m. at The Dalles Civic Auditorium, 323 E. Fourth St.
Those who cannot attend can share their comments with the committee via email: jccr.exhibits@oregonlegislature.gov to be entered into the record.
Smith encouraged anyone with questions to call him at 503-986-1457 or email him at Rep.GregSmith@oregonlegislature.gov
