Applications are now available for the John Walchli Memorial Agricultural Entrepreneur Award for those who are 24 years of age or younger and plan to continue their education in agriculture, or begin or continue an agriculture-related business.

The selection committee will award $1,000 per selected project to provide support and expects to award one or two applicants per year.

A successful candidate will show a willingness and ability to build a successful project or continue their education in any field of agriculture (i.e., livestock, crop, fiber, technology, etc.).

The recipient of the award will be asked to send the committee a report of the success or failure, lessons learned, and ideas for improvement 12 months after receipt of the award. While this award is distributed through the Hermiston FFA Alumni, enrollment in 4-H or FFA is not a requirement for this award.

Applicants will need to complete the award application and mail it to P.O. Box 595, Hermiston by April 1, 2020 to be considered by the selection committee. Interviews will be held in the middle of April, and the award will be posted by May 1.
