Dan Dorran of Hermiston won a seat on the Umatilla County Commission Tuesday night.
Dorran topped HollyJo Beers and write-in candidate Patricia Maier in his effort to succeed retiring Commissioner Bill Elfering of Hermiston.
Dorran received 14,452 votes or 45 percent to Beers’ 11,594 votes or 35 percent. There were 897 write-in votes cast.
Dorran and Beers were the top two vote getters in the May primary that saw five candidates seeking to fill Elfering’s seat. Neither received more than 50 percent of the vote in May, forcing Tuesday night’s runoff election.
