The Hermiston School District (HSD) had a graduation rate of 87.97 percent for the 2020-21 school year – an improvement of 4.23 percent over the previous year.
The Oregon Department of Education released the graduation rates today for all public school districts in Oregon.
The HSD also saw an improvement in the four-year completer rate with 91.73 percent in comparison to the state’s average of 82.79 percent. The four-year completer rate includes students who earned an extended diploma or GED, in addition to the students included in the graduation rate.
“The rate increase is reflective of the hard work of our staff and students,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Tricia Mooney. “We have a dedicated teaching staff that worked tirelessly, especially during the challenges of distance learning, to provide high-quality instruction and supports to students.”
A review of subgroup data shows Hermiston School District marking a 9.83 percent increase in graduation rates for economically-disadvantaged students and a 9.57 percent increase for students of underserved races/ethnicities. HSD also outperformed the state in both categories by 11.69 and 13.64 percent respectively.
