Umatilla Electric Cooperative has joined with lending partner, CoBank, to give matching $5,000 donations to two local organizations, for a combined total of $10,000 to each.

The Community Center in Stanfield and Martha’s House in Hermiston will use the donations to make building improvements. Stanfield’s Community Center serves its entire population, while Martha’s House, an outreach of the Eastern Oregon Mission in Hermiston, provides temporary housing for homeless families.

“We greatly value our partnership with CoBank and their impact on not only their members, but the communities served by their members,” says Lisa McMeen, vice president of administration at UEC.

CoBank is a national cooperative bank based in Colorado. Through its Sharing Success Program, CoBank doubles the contributions of its members to charitable organizations. It has matched $47,500 in UEC donations to area recipients in the past seven years.
