Fireworks
There will be plenty to keep you busy throughout the day on July 4. Hermiston, Boardman and Stanfield have events planned from morning to night.

Hermiston, Stanfield and Boardman are gearing up for their annual Fourth of July festivities. Here’s a brief look at what each city is planning:

Hermiston
Butte Park is the place to be in Hermiston the city’s Stars & Stripes July 4th celebration. Events get under way at noon and last until the fireworks show ends around 10:30 p.m. The full slate of entertainment includes:

• Classic car show, noon to 6 p.m.
• Sponge Relay Race for Families, 1-2 p.m.
• Tug-of-War Contest for Families, 2-3 p.m.
• Live music by the Jamie Nasario Band, 2 p.m.
• Fire Up Magic Show, 3-9 p.m.
• Free face painting, 4-8 p.m.
• Live Music by the Shades, 6 p.m.
• Watermelon Smashing Contest, 7 p.m.
• Pool Party, 7-10:30 p.m., which includes a barbecue dinner, games and “a guaranteed parking spot. For tickets, call (541) 289-7665.
• Ventriloquist and musician Keith Ramsey, 7:45 p.m.
• Live Music by the Shades, 8:30 p.m.
• Fireworks off the Hermiston Butte at 10 p.m.

Food, vendors and crafts will also be available throughout the day. Vendor applications are available by calling (541) 667-5018.

Boardman
Boardman’s Fourth of July events will take place at Boardman Marina Park. The day kicks off at 7 a.m. with a Scout Breakfast. Other activities include a Fun Run/Walk, games for kids, a horseshoe tournament, talent show, puppet show, live music and fireworks.

The parade begins at 11 a.m. At 5 p.m., the Dragon Theater Company will present at pirate puppet show at the Pavilion. They will also have a craft show and make animal balloons.

Following the puppet show, musician Tony Madrigal will perform prior to the fireworks show at dusk. For more information, call the Boardman Chamber of Commerce at (541) 481-3014.

Stanfield
Stanfield’s Fourth of July celebration actually begins on July 3 with the third annual Steak Feed at bard Park from 7 to 9 p.m. A beer garden will be open from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets are $19.95 for adults and $9.95 for kids 12 and under. Tickets are available at the Stanfield City Hall, Stanfield Public Library, Main Street Market, Main Styling Nook and the Elephant’s Trunk.

Live music will be provided just after the steak feed by Hired Guns.

On July 4, Stanfield will hold a duck race and parade. Tickets for the duck race are $5 each can be purchased at Main Street Market, Stanfield Public Library, Bare Necessities and Banner Bank. First prize is $250, second prize is $100 and third prize is $50.
