Fall scholarship applications from Altrusa International Foundation of Hermiston are now available for those students that are approximately two-thirds through their education process.
The Altrusa Scholarship, in memory of Linda Gilleese, an active Altrusan and Community member who was a strong education advocate, is an award of up to $3,000.00. The fall scholarship application deadline is September 15.
The major requirement for receiving this award is that it will be used to gain or upgrade job skills or those looking to renter the job market.
The scholarship is not for graduating high school seniors. Applicants must be residents of Western Umatilla County or North Morrow County, but may be studying elsewhere. Scholarship funds will be deposited with the college or school to be applied toward tuition, books or lab fees.
Applications are available online at Altrusa International of Hermiston Facebook page, Hermiston Chamber, as well as Blue Mountain Community College and Eastern Oregon University or may be requested by emailing hermistonaltrusa@gmail.com.
Funding for scholarships and other projects comes from the Annual Altrusa Auction held each year in early October.
