Altrusa International of Hermiston announced that Angelica Cole is the recipient of the Linda Gilleese Memorial Scholarship for $1,000.
Cole is attending Washington State University.This scholarship is in honor of the late Linda Gilleese, a longtime member of Altrusa. Linda was a lifelong resident of Hermiston who spent many years volunteering for kids clubs and school programs along with a great deal of community involvement. Because of her extensive volunteer work she was a recipient of both the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce Distinguished Citizen Award and the Good Shepherd Family Health Foundation’s Christmas Spirit Award.
A scholarship of $500 was also awarded to Madison Garcia, who is attending Oregon Institute of Technology.
Altrusa will be awarding scholarships in the spring of 2014. This scholarship is given to students who have completed at least two-thirds of their post-secondary program. Applications can be found at the Altrusa website or at the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce.
