Armand Larive Middle School’s ALTV class live streamed 12 basketball games, the equivalent of nearly 20 hours of free live streaming, the week of Feb. 17.

The schedule kicked off on Tuesday, Feb. 18, with the ALMS-Sunridge Middle School (Pendleton) girls basketball games. Then, on Thursday, ALTV live streamed the ALMS- Sandstone Middle School games from Sandstone, using a crew of eight SMS students.

On Friday, Feb. 21, ALTV live streamed four games of the 2A Blue Mountain Conference high school district tournament. The two championship games were live streamed the following day and included a double-overtime girls’ game between Pilot Rock and Union, plus boys’ coverage of No. 1-ranked Irrigon vs. Stanfield. Live stream viewership for the day topped off at 940 hits from 285 unique visitors in 100 U.S. cities.

The final two games on the streaming schedule took place Saturday, Feb. 22, and were the championship games of the 1A Big Sky Conference district tournament. The live stream feed was accessed 1,755 times by 441 unique visitors in 131 U.S. cities.

Each live stream was staffed and produced using an average of four students per game or about 80 hours of combined volunteer hours in a one-week period. More than 20 students volunteered their time for at least one game during the week.

The ALTV crew appreciates the support of Hermiston School District officials and the community for providing the opportunity to participate.
